30STM to headline Columbus next week
When I first heard 30 Seconds to Mars was going on tour, I excitedly headed
to the ‘net to find tickets. Then I was crushed when I didn’t see a date near
me. So you can imagine how happy I was when Promowest announced that
the band was indeed making an appearance in Columbus at Lifestyles
Community Pavilion.

I remember the first time I ever saw Jared Leto. It was the movie
Requiem
for a Dream
, in which he was critically recognized for his amazing acting
ability. Then one day a friend introduced me to a song I absolutely fell in love
with entitled "The Kill" by a band named 30 Seconds to Mars.

After checking out the band on YouTube, I recognized that face attached to
the amazing voice from the track – none other than Jared Leto.

It seems whatever this guy touches, turns to gold, and I think he’s really
found his niche in the music world. Not only can Leto belt out unbelievable
vocals, he is also a very talented songwriter.

I know many times when I’ve been listening to a Mars tune (in addition to
goose bumps) I get the feeling that the song was written about something
that happened to me. It’s not often that an artist has the ability to put real
emotion into lyrics, and Leto does just that, flawlessly with engaging vocals
that are like icing on a cake.

And just when I thought 30 Seconds to Mars couldn't impress me any more
than they already have, I saw their cover of Lady Gaga’s "Bad Romance,"
which they slowed down dramatically and injected with some major WOW
factor. And let’s face it; Jared Leto is a lot easier on the eyes than Lady
Gaga. Talk about taking something “old” and making it new and different, I
think the Grammy’s should just make up a new category this year for best
cover song and give it to the Mars boys. Or at least the Best Cover of Bad
Romance award, for braving to take on what many have tried this year with
that song, and failed so miserably at, to boot.

In essence, if you only decide to see one show this year, make it 30
Seconds to Mars at The LC. Even if you don’t like one song they sing (but if
you tell me that I will personally prove you wrong by finding one you will love),
I guarantee these guys will put on a show.

Plus, the intimate setting of the LC is the perfect venue to showcase this
band’s talent. And lastly, if you’re a guy, taking your gal to this show will win
you some major bonus points, and cost you way less than a trip to your local
jewelry store.

Thirty Seconds to Mars headlines The LC in Columbus on Tues. Nov. 2 with
opening bands New Politics and CB7. Tickets are $24.50 in advance and
$27 day of show.
