Columbus remembers Andyman

Columbus stunned when he drowned on July 17 at the age of 42.
On this night there’s an intention to celebrate the life of this friend
to a whole city.
His father, Johnny R. Davis, was warmly received. “Andy was a
good boy, and is in my heart, and it hurts. It aches to see the
pictures of him but I’m gonna go ahead and laugh and smile and
keep my chin up because he wanted that.” He told us stories
about Andy as a kid and laughed about the time a state trooper
brought him home. All the while a loving audience shouted “good
job Dad!,” “thank you Dad!”
His wife, Molly comes to us surrounded by friends. She and
Andy have three sons:Johnny,10, Oliver, 3, and Sammy, born
this year. ”If I had known Sunday would be my last day with him I
wouldn’t change a thing,” she told us. “We lived our lives together
so deliberately that I have no regrets." Before she leaves she
assures us, ”Johnny, Ollie, Sammy and I, we got this.”
Andy’s friends and loved ones recant stories and play their music
for him. Among them are Father Timothy Hayes, Promowest
Productions' president Scott Stienecker, The Constellations,
Happy Chichester, Carlton Smith, Bob Starker, Gabor Klein,
Ronnie Hunter, Ron Arps, Colin Gawel, members of Saint
Anthony’s, where he attended church and CD101 operations
manager Randy Malloy, along with the deejays and staff of
the radio station.
We laugh, we cry and we cheer as we listen to things like:
“I’ll never forget seeing Andy dressed as the Times Square
ball one New years Eve, being lowered by a crane as we
counted down.”
“He loved music. He loved his job. And he loved titties!”
“...it‘s silence I never expected.”
One friend shared the words of his daughter who said:
“I hope Andy comes to me in my dreams and tells me what
heaven is like”
Another reminds us: “you don't need a radio to listen to him
anymore, you just need your heart”
Thank you for the love Andy! Our hearts are tuned in and we
are still listening.

July 22 is a very warm, humid night... but I
have goosebumps. Quinn Fallon and Doug
Wells are playing “Keep me in your heart
for awhile” and Andyman Davis is smiling
from the big screens. There’s an amazing
feeling of closeness at the Lifestyle
Community Pavilion considering the large
amount of people there. John Andrew
Davis, better known as CD101 program
director and deejay “Andyman," former
owner of Andyman’s Treehouse, left
