The Lumineers are now on the road supporting their latest album.
III, the band's third full-length release, is a concept album with a
theme of addiction (alcoholism) told through three generations of the
fictitious Sparks' family (Gloria, her son Jimmy, his son Junior).
The story is influenced by an addiction related death
that connected the band's multi-instrumentalist founders, vocalist
Wesley Schultz and drummer Jeremiah Fraites. The progression of
addiction led to the 2001 death of Fraites' brother, Joshua, who was
friends with Schultz. The connection grew after the passing of Schultz's
father around the same time of Fraites' brother's passing and the two
began to write together and eventually formed The Lumineers.
They had their initial broad notoriety in 2012 with the band's self-titled
debut. The Colorado band, by way of New Jersey, bring straightforward
catchy verses and distinct indie folk rock tunes garnering success with
"Ho Hey," "Stubborn Love," "Ophelia," "Cleopatra," "Gloria," and others.
The full band live show is powerful and soulful, the intense production
creates an unwavering sense of upbeat bliss. The Lumineers world tour
will continue through this summer.
